If you’re looking for an attention-grabbing, couldn’t-put-it-down, thought-provoking fiction read, Taylor Bennett’s ‘Porch Swing Girl’ is right up your alley.
Love. This. Story.
Loved it to the point I read most of it early into the morning because I couldn’t stop reading…
Bennett takes you on a trip to beautiful Hawaii, incorporating the culture, lifestyle, and scenery of the islands. The characters are well-written and extremely relatable, and realizing I hit the end and will have to wait a year to read the next novel in the series was quite a let-down.
The lessons and truths Olive learns throughout the story are quite identical to the ones I’ve been facing in my own life, and this story was a blessing and a reminder to continue to seek God through all the unknowns, confusion, and pain that we face. Besides being a wonderful read, Porch Swing Girl brought to mind the truth that I can “to trust an unknown future to a known God”, as Corrie ten Boom once said.
If you love tropical getaways, entertaining characters, truth reminders, “anything is possible” potentials, and mixture of laughs and tears – pick up this book. I hope you enjoy this little gem of a novel as much as I did, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
*I was provided with a digital copy of the novel in exchange for a honest review of my own personal thoughts and rating.
